Initial Enrollment Period (IEP)

Initial Enrollment & Eligibility
Your Initial Enrollment Period is a 7-month window: 3 months before your 65th birthday, the month of your birthday, and 3 months after.
Costs and Procedures
Yes, if you choose a Medicare Supplement plan. If you choose Medicare Advantage, we must check if your doctors are in that plan's network.
Costs and Coverage
Costs depend on the plan. Most people pay a monthly Part B premium, while Part A is free if you worked 10+ years. Deductibles and copays vary by plan type.
Plan Comparisons
(Supplement vs. Advantage)
Medigap works with Original Medicare to pay out-of-pocket costs (copays/deductibles) and lets you use any doctor who takes Medicare. Medicare Advantage (Part C) replaces Original Medicare, often includes drug coverage, and usually requires using a network of doctors.
